    Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt / Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 9 November 2022 – Today, three new partners have officially joined the Energy Transition Accelerator Financing Platform (ETAF), IRENA’s global climate finance platform aimed at mobilising capital to scale up renewable project funding in developing countries by 2030. Cooperation agreements with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Masdar and Swiss Re were signed on-site at the UN Climate Change Conference COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh.

  • Masdar joins ETAF, bringing equity investment and technical assistance support for RE projects and decarbonization technologies in emerging markets

    The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) signed agreements with the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) and The Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (known as Masdar) at the Agency’s headquarters on 16th June 2022. The agreement with ADFD formalises the fund’s anchor investment of USD 400 million to ETAF Platform. The signing of the Letter of Intent with Masdar paves the way for renewable energy projects through technical advisories and equity investments.
